Detail-Up Photo-Etched Track Bag Tamiya 9804850 for French B1 bis

This 1/35 scale photo-etched track bag is supplied as a detail-up accessory to add realistic external stowage to models of the French B1 bis tracked chassis.

The Char B1 bis was developed in the 1930s as a heavily armoured support tank. It combined significant armour protection for its era with a hull-mounted short 75 mm gun and a turret-mounted 47 mm cannon, and it served during the early war period. The B1 bis reflected interwar French priorities of protection and cross-country mobility.

Photo-etched construction allows the kit to show fine edges, stitching cues, and fastening impressions that are difficult to replicate in plastic. The parts are formed to shape and glued to the vehicle exterior to represent the external luggage commonly photographed on period machines. Priming, careful painting and selective weathering will integrate the metal pieces with adjacent surfaces and emphasise folds and attachment points.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/35
  • Part type: Photo-etched metal detail-up accessory

A specialised photo-etched accessory intended to raise the standard of external stowage detail on 1/35 French B1 bis models for display-ready finishes.

When correctly primed and sealed with a protective varnish, the etched pieces gain added durability. However, they remain delicate and should be protected during handling and transport.
Avoid stacking models and keep them in dust-free cases or boxes with internal supports. Small shocks can bend or misalign thin etched elements, so use padding where necessary.
Minor straightening is possible with fine pliers and gentle pressure. For paint chips, spot-prime and touch up with a small brush, then re-seal the repair with varnish to protect the finish.
Use stable bases that support the hull evenly and avoid contact with fragile external fittings. A low-vibration display case or foam supports under the chassis will reduce stress on attached etched items.
