This aluminium gear box cover is an aftermarket replacement panel made for the gearcases used on Tamiya DT02, DT03, DT04 and Hornet EVO chassis. It replaces the molded plastic cover with a firmer panel intended to improve mounting reliability and give a cleaner finish to the model.
Fitment is simple for models that retain the original cover: remove the plastic lid, align the aluminium unit to the existing mounting points, and secure it with the vehicle's original fasteners. Always check gear mesh and shaft alignment once fitted to avoid gear binding. The part is supplied in a black finish and designed for the standard gearbox arrangement on the listed Tamiya platforms.
When tuning, the cover is chosen where stiffness and reliable alignment are priorities, for example during spur exchanges, bearing upgrades, or regular maintenance where a stable panel is preferred over flexible plastic.
