Aftermarket aluminium shaft for TA05 differentials

The TA05-19/LB aluminium differential shaft is produced for Tamiya TA05 1/10 scale touring cars. As an aftermarket replacement for the standard steel shaft, the machined aluminium option offers a deliberate change in mass and stiffness that is useful for tuning drivetrain behaviour and maintenance cycles.

Compatibility includes TA05, TA05-IFS and TA05-R as shown below. The shaft sits within the differential assembly and interfaces with the stock gearset and bearings; confirm clearance in your diff housing before installation to avoid interference.

Fitting advice: remove the differential carrier using the chassis service procedure, service internal gears and bearings, then install the new shaft while setting correct gear mesh and bearing preload. Standard hobby tools are sufficient; inspect for burrs and ensure lubricant routing is clear after assembly.

Tuning context: changing to an aluminium shaft modifies rotational inertia and can alter how the diff responds under drive and coast, which can be combined with diff oil and gearing changes to fine tune handling.

It is designed for direct replacement in TA05 family differentials, but you should inspect the diff internals and bearings during fitting.
Aluminium reduces rotating mass and alters rotational inertia, which can change the perceived diff feedback during throttle and deceleration phases.
No different bearing type is required; use the original bearing positions but replace worn bearings while servicing the differential.
Verify gear mesh, bearing preload, cleanliness of mating faces and correct application of grease or diff oil according to your chassis manual.
