17T Motor Pinion in Hardened Steel for TRAXXAS MAXX

This 17T motor pinion is a replacement item made to engage the motor input of the TRAXXAS MAXX monster truck layout. Produced from hardened steel #45, the pinion focuses on resisting wear and keeping consistent tooth engagement to support dependable drivetrain operation during regular running and setup tuning.

Installation notes: ensure the pinion mesh with the spur is correct and that the pinion is seated and secured on the motor shaft. The original contents list the motor pinion plus a 4x4 set screw for fixing the pinion to the shaft. Fit this part as a standard service replacement or when adjusting drivetrain characteristics following wear.

Original Name / Part No:

6490X

This item is compatible with

  • TRAXXAS-1/10 MAXX MONSTER TRUCK-89076-4
If the existing 4x4 set screw is undamaged and threads correctly into the motor shaft, it can be reused, though replacing it with the supplied screw is recommended for a reliable fit.
This pinion is 17 teeth; replacing a pinion with the same tooth count does not alter the gear ratio, but it restores correct tooth profiles if the old pinion was worn.
Pinions generally do not require lubrication, but inspect mating gears and keep the gearbox clean to avoid abrasive wear; use a light gear lube on spur teeth if specified by your drivetrain setup.
