Drop-in L-shape Piggy Back Dampers for XRT 8S

These L-shape piggy back dampers are offered as an aftermarket upgrade for the TRAXXAS XRT 8S, reducing unwanted rebound and absorbing impacts to improve stability on uneven surfaces.

The dampers use a 6061-T6 aluminium body with a shock-absorb cap to help limit leakage, and incorporate a piston spring inside the piggy back reservoir to refine rebound behaviour. The polished rod diameter is increased to 7.0mm to reduce bending risk when compared to the stock 5.2mm shaft.

Tuneability comes from the top spring retainer for preload and the red screw at the base of the negative pressure oil cylinder to set rebound bias, both adjustable without disassembly. The set ships with replaceable 2.9mm silver coil springs and can also accept the fitted 2.8mm black spring if retained.

Installation advice: intended for front or rear use on the listed TRAXXAS chassis; double-check mount geometry and thread fitment and use appropriate shock oil and seals to maintain consistent operation and prevent leaks.

They are suitable for front or rear installation on the TRAXXAS XRT 8S platform, but confirm that mounting holes and threads match your chassis before fitting.
A thicker polished shaft reduces flex and the likelihood of permanent bends when running heavy-scale models or tackling rough tracks, improving longevity and consistency.
The set includes 2.9mm silver coil springs; you can swap spring rates to tune ride height and firmness—ensure replacement springs are compatible with the damper travel and retainer.
Regularly inspect seals and the shock-absorb cap, change shock oil to the recommended grade, and keep the polished rod free of nicks to avoid premature wear and leaks.
