The Wellington Mk.1C, crafted by Vickers-Armstrongs from R.K. Pierson's design, was a prominent twin-engine bomber in early World War II service. Noted for its geodetic construction, the aircraft combined durability with functional lightness, and this Trumpeter 01626 assembly conveys those historical construction traits in a compact model format.
Over 2,600 Wellington airframes were built and the Mk.1C typically carried a six-person crew, eight 7.7mm machine guns and a bomb load exceeding 2,000 kg. The model reflects the aircraft's overall size, including the 86 feet 2 inches wingspan and 64 feet 7 inches length, and represents its performance envelope up to 235 mph and roughly 2,550 miles range.
This kit features 192 plastic pieces across 10 sprues, optional flap positions and decals for P9245/OJ-W, 149Sqn RAF Suffolk 1940. When built carefully and painted in period colours, the finished model becomes a convincing small-scale display of the Wellington's distinctive shape.
