01635 Trumpeter BAE Lightning F.3  [TP01635]

The Lightning developed beyond its initial interceptor part into a tremendously capable hit fighter and reconnaissance platform. The 1st production Lightning, the F.1, travelled in October 1959, and deliveries were only available in summer season of 1960. It had a good radar and heat-seeking Firestreak missiles. A follow-on variation, the F.1A, had air-refueling ability and a UHF radio. The F.2 variation starred in 1961, and had better range, speed and roof, a liquid-oxygen breathing system the pilot, a steerable nosewheel, fully-variable afterburners, and improved electronic devices. The F.3, featuring two 16,360-pound thrust Avon devices, a more impressive square-tip fin, Red-Top missiles, and the capability of carrying two big over-wing gasoline pods, joined solution in 1964. The F.3A, after ward re-designated the F.6, was in reality the consequence of a BAC recommendation to nearly increase the Lightning's gas capability and to fit it with a redesigned wing. This modification permitted the airplane to transport more, become more efficient, and get faster.
