The North American F-100D Super Sabre is a landmark Cold War jet that saw wide use during the Vietnam era, performing diverse roles such as close air support and fighter-bomber missions. The type entered production from 1955 and recorded its first flight in January 1956.
Trumpeter's 1:32 rendition reproduces the F-100D's general arrangement and surface features. The kit includes parts that reflect the aircraft layout around the Pratt & Whitney J57-P-21 engine and attendant nacelle detailing.
Serving across multiple commands, the F-100D replaced earlier types including the F-84F. Its operational tempo during Vietnam delayed wider Air National Guard service until around 1969 for many units.
Targeting serious hobbyists, this Trumpeter release offers a challenging build with a notable parts count. The constructed model extends 516mm long and 369.5mm wide, providing a strong presence when finished.
