The Trumpeter 1/48 Messerschmitt Me509 kit renders an unusual WWII prototype in convincing scale. It lets modellers study the Me509's distinctive layout and build a model that highlights experimental aircraft design from the period.
The Me509 programme explored non-standard solutions for its time, notably a mid-fuselage engine position and a tricycle undercarriage arrangement. Though it did not reach operational service, the kit preserves these characteristics for collectors and historians in miniature form.
Components show crisp moulding and the instructions outline a clear build path; careful test-fitting and a steady hand with adhesives will improve the result. As a finished model, the Me509 stands out among WWII types thanks to its prototype configuration.
