The USS New Orleans CA-32 formed part of the New Orleans-class heavy cruisers that were prominent during World War II. These treaty-era cruisers were finalised between the wars, and in wartime condition they displaced from 10,136 up to 12,436 tons while receiving radar and enhanced anti-aircraft fitments.
Praised for their sturdiness, the New Orleans-class ships that remained after 1942 took part in nearly every major action against Japan, collectively earning 63 Battle Stars. This kit aims to represent the vessel as seen in 1942, including the MS21 camouflage scheme.
The model is supplied across nine sprues and gives the choice of building a waterline or a full hull example. Steady hands and fine tools will help with small parts and detail painting, yielding an authentic 1942 representation for a shelf or display case.
