The Trumpeter 05751 kit represents the French battleship Richelieu in its 1946 configuration, offering modellers a historically grounded subject with clear wartime provenance. The vessel entered service in 1939 and experienced notable actions and later Allied cooperation.
The Richelieu engaged British forces early on at Dakar before aligning with the Allies in 1942. A comprehensive refit at Brooklyn in 1943 enhanced her radar systems and anti-aircraft defence, installing Bofors and Oerlikon guns to replace older weapons. By 1944 she had been deployed to operations in northern waters and the Far East.
This 1:700 kit offers the choice of waterline or full hull display and comprises 370 plastic parts that capture hull form and superstructure detail. The finished model measures 355.5 mm long and 48.5 mm wide, making it a suitable piece for display cabinets and dioramas.
