This 1:700 static plastic kit portrays the French battleship Richelieu in her 1946 configuration, produced for display with the option of building a waterline vignette or a complete hull model.
Richelieu was launched in January 1939 and experienced complex service during the war. She sailed to Dakar in 1940 and later rejoined Allied operations in 1942. During a January 1943 refit at Brooklyn Navy Yard her radar and anti-aircraft batteries were modernized, with 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikons replacing older 37mm and 13.2mm armaments. She operated with the British Home Fleet in early 1944 off Norway and then took part in operations in the Far East before returning to French control after World War II.
Builder guidance: aimed at collectors and experienced modellers, the kit supplies multiple sprues plus separate hull and deck pieces to enable either waterline or full-hull assembly. The included decals correspond to the postwar markings used at Richelieu's return to French ports in 1946. For accurate finishing, consult period photographs and reference works when choosing paint tones and small-detail weathering.
A faithful 1:700 Richelieu kit that balances display detail with manageable size for collectors focused on historical presentation.
