HMS Zulu was a Tribal-class destroyer launched in 1937 by A. Stephens & Sons in Glasgow, launched with boilers and funnels already in place and gaining the nickname of a 'lucky ship'. She entered service in 1938 and later took part in actions such as the hunt for the battleship Bismarck.
During her career HMS Zulu served in the Mediterranean, at one time based at Malta. In 1941 she underwent a refit at Falmouth where radar was fitted and depth charge throwers were repositioned. In 1942 she was hit by Italian shore batteries and bombed, leading to her sinking near Alexandria.
The Trumpeter 1:700 kit models HMS Zulu with careful attention to key fittings like the HF direction finding arrays and twin 2-pounder guns, making it suitable for collectors who prefer historically accurate small-scale builds.
