This injection-moulded 1:72 plastic model represents the American CH-46D Sea Knight, released as part of Hobby Boss's subject-focused aircraft line for static display modelling.
The CH-46 Sea Knight entered service in the mid-1960s as a twin-turbine, tandem-rotor transport for the United States Navy and Marine Corps. With a first flight in August 1962 and procurement from 1964, the CH-46D served in troop and cargo transport, vertical replenishment, search and rescue, and medevac roles. The tandem-rotor arrangement offered stable hover and improved control at low speeds during operational deployments.
Notable external features include the elongated fuselage, rear loading ramp and the tandem-rotor outline. The kit captures these external forms for assembly, alignment and finishing. Typical modeller tasks are seam filling, surface prep, painting and decal application. Those aiming for an exhibition-quality finish should pay attention to rotor geometry, landing gear details and restrained weathering to evoke service life.
A faithful small-format representation of a mid-20th century tandem-rotor transport, well suited to display cabinets and historical model collections.
