Chassis Tuning for Competitive X4 Builds

The XRAY 301071 1.6mm Graphite Upper Deck is a practical upgrade for competitors adjusting the XRAY X4 setup. Manufactured from 1.6mm graphite, it works well with an aluminium chassis in modified classes and is intended to improve traction while preserving steering precision.

Four Position Flex System

Use one of four flex positions to refine handling for a given track:

  • Soft Setting: No bushing or bearing used to maximise flex and increase steering, at the expense of on-power stability.
  • Soft-Medium Setting: Connects with a ball bearing to slightly reduce steering and gain more stable behaviour.
  • Medium Setting: A special M3x5.5mm screw behind the layshaft balances steering input and vehicle stability.
  • Stiff Setting: Employs special screws both behind and ahead of the layshaft to deliver the greatest stability while keeping steering response strong.

Given the 1.6mm construction, the stiff option is commonly recommended to protect the deck and cope with higher loads.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some XRAY items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Assess grip level and corner types: use softer settings for tight, low speed sections to boost turn-in and stiffer settings for high speed or bumpy circuits for better stability.
The setup requires the special M3x5.5mm screw and specific fasteners; use correct size replacements and check them regularly to keep the deck secure.
While designed with aluminium chassis in mind, the plate can be trialled on stock setups but expect different handling results; tuning will be needed to find the right balance.
