Reducing rotating mass can slightly change deceleration feel, but engine braking is mainly governed by gearing and clutch engagement.
Always check gear mesh after any clutch or transmission work; the bell itself does not change gear pitch but installation may require a final mesh check.
Minor nicks can be smoothed, but deep damage to the hardcoat may need replacement of the bell to maintain precise balance and performance.
