Rear Big-Bore Dampers for XT8 Competition Use

The XRAY 358209 XT8 Rear Big Bore Shock Absorbers are aimed at drivers seeking steady handling on the XT8 chassis. Supplied as a two-shock set with soft folding boots and blue C = 0.61 springs, the design uses 18.5mm oversized, externally threaded bodies with adjustable collars for precise downstop control.

Premium Body Workmanship and Piston Accuracy

Bodies are hardcoated and fitted with single-piece aluminium caps for increased durability. The 15.3mm inner bore ensures smooth oil flow through accurately molded composite pistons, delivering uniform damping feel lap after lap.

Reliable Sealing and Membrane Upgrade

New, wider membranes match the big-bore layout to sustain damping consistency during prolonged use and heavy impacts. The lower end assembly employs silicone O-rings and composite shims to minimise leaks while allowing free rod travel. An aluminium lower cap secures the assembly and deters dirt ingress.

Hardened Shafts for Repeated Impacts

The 3.5mm shock shafts are machined from high-tensile steel and ground to a fine finish, offering resistance to bending and scoring under demanding jumps and landings.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some XRAY items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Compatibility depends on tower geometry; many aftermarket towers that retain XT8 mounting dimensions will accept these shocks, but verify hole spacing before fitting.
Visible oil around the lower cap, sticky or jerky rod movement and a drop in damping performance indicate worn seals that should be replaced promptly.
Yes, mixing spring rates front to rear is a standard tuning method to adjust balance and traction; these shocks accept common XT8-compatible spring sizes.
