Does the plate need break in?

Yes, the plate is made to be compatible with XB4 series hubs and uses the same mounting interface as stock rear plates so installation is straightforward.

Is there any special upkeep required?

Regular checks for pad wear and ensuring the plate remains free of debris are sufficient. Replace pads or adjust shims as you would with any racing slipper setup.
