Optimising lap times with the BD5 World Spec

The Yokomo YOKMRTCBD5W BD5 World Spec is a 1/10 scale touring car chassis kit crafted for racers seeking predictable handling and setup control. The platform is focused on delivering stable behaviour through corners and clean power delivery on straights.

World Spec upgrades that improve handling

The World Spec brings targeted reductions in mass and finer control of weight distribution. The chassis and radio plate are arranged to accept LiPo packs, helping to keep the mass low and central. Carbon-fibre reinforced transverse arms and pared-down steering parts lower inertial load while maintaining strength.

Engineering choices for better stability and traction

The BD5's very low motor placement reduces roll and improves stability during fast transitions. Belt pulleys are designed to limit friction for smoother torque transfer. The split engine block promotes rear chassis flex that enhances rear axle traction when accelerating out of corners.

No, this is a chassis kit and requires separate electronics and assembly; this allows you to choose motor, ESC and radio gear to suit your setup goals.
You can adjust the wheelbase from 254 mm to 259 mm to tune stability versus agility depending on circuit demands.
Select gearing to match your motor and track layout; lower gearing helps corner exit on tighter tracks while higher gearing benefits long straights, keeping in mind motor and ESC limits.
The split engine block allows a degree of rear chassis flex which can increase rear traction under power, making it easier to manage throttle on corner exits.
