Refine YD-2 Series Shocks with the Yokomo Y2-S116TA

The Yokomo Y2-S116TA SLF Big Bore Shock Tapered Piston is a tuning component aimed at improving the response of YD-2 series shocks. With development input from TeamYOKOMO DRIFT, this six-hole tapered piston lets you change damping behaviour by altering its installation direction, making it useful for precise drift setup work.

Tailoring Rebound and Compression

The tapered profile gives a clear tuning advantage: install taper-down for a softer rebound that smooths transitions, or fit taper-up to reduce compression harshness during heavy inputs. This orientation-based change lets you fine tune handling without major rebuilds.

Piston Hole Shape and Flow Control

Inclined piston ports are designed to manage oil flow smoothly on both light and hard inputs. That geometry reduces sudden disturbances and keeps the chassis stable when negotiating bumpy sections, improving overall predictability.

Keeping Oil Film for Drift Stability

For drifting, maintaining the right oil film inside the damper is essential to avoid unwanted shock activation. The Y2-S116TA's six-hole arrangement, when used with #300 shock oil, supports oil film retention and helps sustain consistent shock performance while sliding.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Flipping the piston changes whether the shock feels softer on rebound or on compression, giving you a straightforward way to alter handling balance for drifting.
The piston works well with #300 shock oil to help preserve the oil film needed in drift use, though drivers may fine tune viscosity to suit their conditions.
Maintaining seals and oil condition remains important; the Y2-S116TA does not change service intervals but keeping oil clean helps retain the intended damping characteristics.
