What these progressive springs do

The Yokomo YOKD171BL set consists of two progressive-wound springs intended for 1/10-scale drift RC cars to help refine suspension response. The soft blue springs use a 1.1 x 10.5 turn progressive profile and are supplied as a two-piece kit for fitting into drift shock units.

Behaviour summary: progressive springs vary their effective rate with compression, so they provide a softer initial travel that becomes firmer under higher deflection; this characteristic aids in controlling weight transfer and sustaining lateral traction during slides. Adjust front-to-rear distribution or preload to change how the car rotates and settles during drifting.

Assembly reminders: confirm that the spring internal diameter matches your shock shaft and that the spring seats correctly in the cup. Use matching collars or preload spacers when compressing, and do not force the spring onto incompatible parts. Make one change at a time and retest to measure impact.

Practical tuning note: implement incremental changes to spring preload or placement, keep damping and tyre choices consistent while testing, and keep a setup log for repeatable results. These springs are aimed at RC drift practice and competitive environments only.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Longevity depends on usage intensity and handling; inspect springs periodically for sag or uneven winding and replace if you notice performance loss or visible deformation.
Mixing spring types is possible to tune transitional feel, but compare changes one at a time and expect different mid-stroke behaviour that may require damper retuning.
Verify free movement of the shock, confirm spring seats correctly, check for binding throughout travel, and run a few test laps to confirm expected behaviour before a full session.
