RC Pinion 48 Pitch 26T — Durable Steel

This is a 48 pitch, 26-tooth pinion gear from Yokomo intended as a motor pinion for precise gearing adjustments in RC models. The ultra-hard classification denotes enhanced wear resistance when compared to softer pinions and aims to preserve the tooth profile through frequent hobby electric RC use.

Use this pinion where a 48 pitch pinion is required by the motor and spur gear combination. It is intended only for RC motor output shafts and gearbox gearsets that accept 48 pitch pinions; do not use it with incompatible pitch systems.

Installation and tuning tips:

  • Check shaft fit and keying before tightening, ensure the pinion seats fully on the motor shaft to avoid axial play.
  • Set gear mesh carefully using standard methods: correct clearance avoids premature tooth wear while preventing binding under load.
  • When changing tooth count, remember each tooth increment alters the overall gear ratio, trading top speed for acceleration or vice versa depending on direction of change.
  • Inspect the mating spur gear for wear and compatibility with 48 pitch teeth to preserve smooth operation.
Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Tighten the set screw to secure the pinion without overloading the screw or shaft. Use a torque-limited driver if available and verify the pinion does not shift under load.
Check the spur gear specifications or count teeth and compare with the pitch standard; many suppliers label pitch, otherwise measure tooth spacing against a known 48 pitch sample.
Replace the pinion if you see rounded tooth tips, pitting, increased noise, or rough engagement. Regular inspection after heavy use will catch wear early.
