Technical Summary: 64-Pitch 38-Tooth Pinion

The Yokomo YOKPG6438 is a 64-pitch, 38-tooth pinion made for electric RC motor gearing applications. It offers a practical way to alter final drive ratios and adapt drivetrain characteristics for different tracks and load conditions.

This pinion is suited to systems specifying 64-pitch components and is not limited to a particular chassis. Before fitting, validate the pinion pitch and tooth count against the spur and check the motor shaft diameter and set screw arrangement to ensure proper installation.

For installation, mount the pinion to the motor shaft with correct axial placement, adjust mesh to prevent premature wear, and secure fasteners to the manufacturer's recommended torque. After assembly, rotate the drivetrain by hand to confirm even engagement and to spot any binding or excessive backlash.

On tuning: installing a 38T increases the effective final ratio over smaller pinions, which will alter acceleration and top speed depending on the spur; adopt measured, incremental changes and use test runs to find the ideal compromise.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Regularly inspect the gear mesh, ensure fasteners remain secure, and avoid incorrect mesh or sustained heavy loading to reduce premature tooth wear.
If the motor shaft diameter and set screw style match the pinion bore, it will fit; otherwise use a suitable adaptor or select a pinion with the appropriate bore and screw arrangement.
Expect a higher final ratio: you may gain top speed but lose some low-end acceleration. Make changes stepwise and test to tune driveability.
