Intended use and fit for the rear suspension

This Yokomo YOKRP-084O Ultra Off-Road Rear Spring (Orange) is a rear suspension coil intended for 1/10-class off-road buggies and trucks. It is supplied as a tuning or replacement spring to influence rear-end behaviour without changing shock mountings or shock bodies.

The spring is produced from corrosion-resistant steel wire with an orange coating to aid quick identification of rate during setup. As an aftermarket tuning part it focuses on providing linear mechanical response for improved corner exit traction and steady mid-corner balance on loose or rough surfaces.

Installation on standard shocks is simple: undo the shock cap and remove the spring retainer, swap the spring while preserving internal shims or spacers, then confirm the preload and that the spring sits correctly. It is good practice to check shock shafts for straightness and inspect shock oil when you change springs to keep other variables consistent during testing.

Setup advice: firmer rear springs generally reduce squat and can improve turn-in when applying throttle, whereas softer springs increase compliance and can enhance traction over bumpy sections. Change one setting at a time, start with preload adjustments, and keep setup notes to replicate successful configurations at later meetings.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
They are intended for standard 1/10 shock bores and common spacer arrangements, but you should compare free length and inner diameter with your current springs to ensure correct clearance and seating.
Stiffer rear springs typically reduce squat and can make the car more responsive to steering under power; softer springs increase compliance, which may boost traction on uneven surfaces but can reduce precision.
Rinse and dry after wet use, inspect for nicks that could lead to fatigue, and store dry in labelled containers; preserve the orange finish to help with quick selection during events.
