High-travel shock spring for precision setup

The Yokomo YS-1560L is a long, orange-coded pro shock spring produced as an accessory for RC-scale suspension tuning and setup. It fits as a replacement when extended travel or a shifted preload range is required within a damper unit, and is supplied as an individual part rather than a full vehicle component.

Practical role: fitting a longer shock spring changes preload and the static ride height, and works together with damper oil and piston selection to define transient response and corner support. Expect measurable changes to ride height and a need to retune damping to retain predictable handling on varied surfaces.

Installation notes: measure the shock's internal travel and spring seat dimensions before purchase, remove the shock from the chassis, decompress and swap springs while confirming correct seating on the retainer and shaft, then reassemble. After fitting, carry out low-speed checks to ensure free movement and to set preload and damping.

Tuning tips: alter chassis balance and roll stiffness gradually, pair spring swaps with damping and anti-roll bar changes, and document ride-height and steering outcomes with measured data rather than visual estimates.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Check the fully compressed and extended internal length of your shock, the spring seat diameter and the top cap clearance to ensure the longer spring will not bind during full suspension travel.
You will see changes in roll stiffness, transient response and static ride height; these impact corner entry and mid-corner balance, so adjust damper settings to regain the desired balance.
Set preload using measured sag or ride-height targets: make small collar adjustments, record the resulting ride height, and iterate until the chassis balance and steering response match your setup goals.
