Handling effects of wider front wheels on YRF 001W

This RC-scale front wheel pair is supplied for use with the YRF 001W Wide chassis and is sold as a matched set. It functions as a direct swap or as an upgrade when a broader front tyre contact is wanted to adjust steering progression and turn-in on scale touring cars.

Compatibility is limited to the listed chassis model: verify the YRF 001W Wide chassis wheel mounting system before installation. The wheels mount to the existing front wheel hubs using the retained hardware; after fitting, inspect wheel runout and tighten wheel fasteners to the torque specified by the chassis manufacturer.

In tuning terms, a wider front wheel increases edge contact, which can change initial turn-in and the mid-corner steering feel. Pair the wheels with front toe and suspension adjustments to refine handling, and re-check static alignment and camber after any change to ensure predictable behaviour.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Widening the front contact patch typically increases front grip at the tyre edge, which can reduce initial understeer and make turn-in crisper. Balance this by adjusting rear grip or roll stiffness to avoid shifting the handling too far toward oversteer.
Yes. After fitting, re-evaluate static camber and front toe. Slight toe-out and small camber adjustments can help regain predictable turn-in and maintain mid-corner balance with the wider footprint.
Test with baseline suspension settings, then adjust front toe and roll stiffness in small steps while logging handling changes. Re-check alignment and tyre fit after each change to isolate the effect of the wider front wheels.
